After initial design, we opted to do the broadhead inlay first by debossing on the laser.
Now we pour the debossing with our special blend of "metallic purple heart"
...then sand flush.
Next we make some templates to sand or route against.
Here's the neck after truss rod installation and before glueing the fretboard.
Giving the fretboard end a sharp edge before routing radius.
These MDF templates are great for hand routing cavities precisely.
Test fitting the front after route outs.
Learning curve moment: Purple heart end grain sucks. It sucks so incredibly bad. Almost scrapped this...
but decided to use it as a learning experience in case I was ever presented a guitar for repair in the future that was hit with a grenade. Missing meat patched with epoxy and wood dust mixture.
White knuckle day: Cutting neck pocket...
...and testing neck fit. In there like swimwear!
Adding the UV reactive Bullseye inlay with GITD red center to 12th fret marker before cutting fret slots.
Chonk! Profile complete but no carving.
Spokeshaving bevels.....
...and rasping tough end grains.
Humbucker cavity was filled with extra epoxy for clean look....because we care, dammit!
Off to our high-tech spray facility for sealing
Finally done! Here's a super sexy angle shot.
And the backside. Probably going with clear plates on more builds going forward. Nice to see clean wiring so gotta show it off.
Headstock got sandwiched with purple heart to do an inverse of the body wood color. LIT logo matches broadhead inlay on body.
Testing 2-color side dots and went for this airplane runway look of green/red dots. Great for visibility during night missions.
Normal guitars get normal cases. This thing is a weapon and will get a gun case as such. Has false bottom for hiding more pew pews (if so desired).
