Start of the story...gluing a bookmatched mahogany drop top onto a body of glued reclaimed silkscreen kiln dried douglas fir.
Next step...bandsaw
Then trimming against template and face sanding.
Part of our 1st year hurdle was creating and amassing a collection of guitar building templates.
They work pretty good!
This looks fantastic. We could just paint or stain it and stop here but you know that isn't how we roll. Graphics incoming!
But first lets get a cool coffin cavity routed out.
A crypt your controls...
Steel neck ferrules and stainless threaded neck inserts keep things at maximum tightness for increased sustain.
Next is lining up some old art onto the body in Corel
Then we head to the laser engraver..
for hours....
but it came out great!
Once again, instead of being pleased, we up the ante....UV reactive ink!
Even the headstock appears plain wood....
until you hit the blacklights!
Shout out to Guilford for this awesome mahogany cover.
Let's see if we can't mess it up....
We didn't. Glory is ours!
Wet guitars are sexy!
So are clean electronics and shielding!
